- Greenhouse gas reduction, specifically CO2 capture, sequestration and value product creation
- Industry's reliance on water and the industry's desire to achieve significant reductions in water use through recovery, treatment, reuse and recycle
- Industry's reliance on natural gas and its desire to produce alternative fuels through a combination thermal energy recovery and waste to energy technologies
